The project is called WiFi4EU and intends in the first phase to promote the installation of approximately 8000 free internet access hotspots in public places in the European Union.
In Portugal, there are estimated to be around 500 hotspots, and it may be in full operation next year.
In order to use free hotspots, users will only have to register for a common EU-wide portal. Through this registration, each user can then access the wireless internet where there are WiFi4EU access points.
